Significant Rise Expected In Number Of Tourists To Visit Turkey, Chairman Of Europe's Leading Tour Operator

ANTALYA - The chairman of a leading European tour operator said on Monday that there would be a significant increase in the number of tourist visiting Turkey in 2008.
Vural Oger, chairman of Oger Tours, said that 2008 would be a good year for the Turkish tourism sector.
"A 6 to 10 percent rise is expected in the number of European tourists to visit Turkey this year. The number of tourists coming from Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States is expected to increase by 25 percent as well," Oger said.
Oger said that the number of German tourists that would visit Turkey in 2008 would increase by 6 percent over last year`s figures.
"A 6 percent increase in 3 million German tourists is an important rise," he said.
Oger also said that Turkey had all the necessary "ingredients" for tourism, but the country had to "promote the product" it prepared with such ingredients effectively.
Vural Oger is a German politician of Turkish descent, and Member of the European Parliament and sits on the European Parliament`s Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Oger Tours, founded by Vural Oger, is both Germany`s and Europe`s leading tour operator with the trips it organizes to Turkey.
