ISTANBUL - Anadolu Agency became the communication sponsor of "Turkish Olympics Team Project".
National sportsmen, who will participate in 2008 Summer Olympics Games in Beijing between August 8th and 24th, were introduced to the press under the title "Turkish Olympic Team" in Istanbul.
Turkish State Minister Murat Basesgioglu, Youth & Sports Director General Mehmet Atalay and Anadolu Agency Executive Board President & Director General Hilmi Bengi attended the press conference.
"Turkish Olympics Team Project" coordinator Murat Sancar briefed reporters about the project and said that the sportsmen, who would compete in Olympics, were made a trade mark under the title "Turkish Olympics Team".
Sancar said that the team would be introduced to Turkish people before Olympics so that the sportsmen would be supported more, and also they would become idols for youth and children.
He added that Youth & Sports Directorate General developed "Turkish Olympics Team Communication Campaign".
Within the scope of the campaign, sponsors, which support Turkish Olympics Team, were classified in three groups as golden, silver and bronze.
AA has become the communication sponsor of the project.
Golden sponsors are Turk Telekom and National Lottery, silver sponsors are Turkcell, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Alaaddin Adworks, and bronze sponsors are Anadolu Agency, GNC, Nike, Efes Pilsen, Acibadem Health Group, Technogym, Sports&Brands, Turkish Airlines and Emrah Yucel.
"Turkish Olympics Team" is comprised of 58 sportsmen from shooting, athletics, cycling, boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, judo, table tennis, archery, taekwondo, sailing and swimming branches.
