ISKENDERUN - Yachts from several countries participating in the 19th Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally (EMYR) arrived in Iskenderun - Hatay on Friday.
The EMYR began at Istanbul`s Atakoy Marina on April 20th with the participation of eight yachts.
Under the event, 73 yachts from 17 countries such as Turkey, Spain, Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, France, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland will stay in Iskenderun for the next three days.
After leaving Turkey, the yachts will visit the ports of Lattakia in Syria, Jounieh Marina in Lebanon, Haifa and Ashkelon Marinas in Israel, Port Said in Egypt and finally Herzliya Marina in Israel as the last call.
Beginning from 1990, yachtsmen from all over the world converged on Turkey to participate in the Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally. In 1995, the traditional Rally route, (Antalya-Bozyazi-Girne), was extended from Istanbul to Kemer and then Syria, Lebanon and Egypt were included in the Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally.
