Terrorist Organization Al-qaeda Case

TRIAL OF ONE SUSPECT OF MOROCCAN-ORIGIN STARTS

ISTANBUL - Trial of a Moroccan suspect who is claimed to have links to the terrorist organization al-Qaeda, started on Wednesday.
Suspect Zakaria Soubah who is under arrest attended the hearing at the Istanbul High Criminal Court no:13.
Soubah said that he had studied journalism and was working as aluminum technician in Libya.
The court adjourned the hearing as the suspect wanted the indictment to be translated from Turkish into Arabic.
In its indictment, the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office says that Zakaria Soubah was sent to Istanbul on behalf of al-Qaeda by a person with whom he met while he was working in Libya and was ordered to leave explosives at a consulate general in Istanbul, but he surrendered to the police after he failed to leave explosives due to high security measures.
In the indictment, the office seeks imprisonment terms from 15 years up to 22.5 years on charges of ''being member of illegal organization''.
