Interaction Between NGOs And Parliaments Is An Indication Of Healthy Democratic Process, Toptan

STRASBOURG - Turkey`s Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan said Thursday the interaction between NGOs and parliaments was an indication of healthy democratic process.
Speaking at the European Conference of Parliament Speakers of the COE in Strasbourg, Toptan said "today, parliamentary systems resulted from pluralist elections are not sufficient for a participatory democratic order. NGOs must be able to participate in the country`s democratic process effectively for a well functioning democratic order".
"Nothing can be more natural than seeing parliamentarians cooperating with NGOs", Toptan said.
"Such a cooperation is vital for the strengthening of a participatory democratic order", Toptan also said.
