MERSIN - An international music festival will start in southern province of Mersin on Thursday.
The 7th International Mersin Music Festival will be inaugurated with a performance of Dutch violinist Janine Jansen. Bilkent Symphoy Orchestra will accompany Jansen during her concert.
The outstanding instrument being used by Janine Jansen is the violin by Antonio Stradivari, Cremona, 1727, "Barrere" --on extended loan from the Elise Mathilde Fund through the intermediation of The Stradivari Society of Chicago.
Jansen was accompanied by the world`s most prestigious orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony, The Cleveland Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo and Sydney Symphony. She has worked with such eminent conductors as Sir Andrew Davies, Mark Elder, Valery Gergiev, Neeme Jarvi, Paavo Jarvi, Sakari Oramo, Mikhail Pletnev, and Edo de Waart.
