ANKARA - Turkey harshly criticized on Thursday a newspaper ad which the Turkish Foreign Ministry said "was putting forth conditions to end" the activities of the terrorist organization PKK.
The newspaper ad appeared Wednesday in French daily Le Monde and the International Herald Tribune, and it was signed by a number of deputies of Turkey`s opposition Democratic Society Party (DTP) and mayors and writers.
"It would be a vain attempt for a group to seek abroad ground and support which they had lost in Turkey by putting forth conditions to end the activities of an organization which is designated by the U.S. and the EU as a terrorist organization," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement called them "a marginal group that preferred terrorist discourse and tactics instead of engaging in democratic activities on legitimate and legal grounds in Turkey."
