ISTANBUL - Two Turkish college students became the second runners-up in a world internet championship, the university said on Thursday.
A statement of the Istanbul University said that two of its students became the silver medalist in the world internet championship organized by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP).
Tevfik Emrah Kuyumcu, studying engineering at the Istanbul University, and Celal Askin, a student of the justice vocational higher institute, won silver medals in the championship.
IFIP is a multinational, apolitical organization in Information & Communications Technologies and Sciences. Formally, it is a non-governmental, non-profit umbrella organization for national societies working in the field of information processing. It was established in 1960 under the auspices of UNESCO as a result of the first World Computer Congress held in Paris in 1959.
