ISTANBUL - Demand for gold jewellery in Turkey in the first quarter of 2008 increased by 24 percent based on dollar rate, World Gold Council`s chief in Turkey said Wednesday.
However, the demand dropped by 13 percent to 28.9 tonnes in terms of weight due to relatively high price of the precious metal, council`s Turkey director Murat Akman said.
Akman said overall demand for gold also decreased by 25 percent in Q1 (2008) over the same period of last year.
