Turkish Business Association Holds Talks In Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - An influential employers' association of Turkey had talks with authorities from Europe and Turkey in the office of U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney in Washington, D.C., a statement said on Monday.
Turkish Industrialists' & Businessmen's Association's (TUSIAD) representative in Washington, D.C. Abdullah Akyuz said in a statement that TUSIAD delegation headed by chairperson Arzuhan Dogan Yalcindag also had meetings with Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Fried, IMF authorities and executives from the Department of Treasury.
The mentioned meetings focused on several issues including Turkish-U.S. relations, political and economic developments in Turkey, EU process, fight against terrorist organization PKK and Armenian issue, the statement said.
"We saw that the United States keeps supporting Turkey's EU accession process. The recent political developments in Turkey have been monitored (by U.S. authorities)," it stated.
The statement said after the meeting between U.S. President George W. Bush and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on November 5th, 2007, the cooperation against terrorist organization PKK brought a favorable acceleration to the bilateral relations between the two countries.
