Russian Monument Inaugurated In Gelibolu

GELIBOLU - An official from the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry said on Saturday that cooperation between Turkey and Russia would contribute to the region, as well as to peace and stability.
A Russian Monument, whose construction work started 4 months ago, was inaugurated in Gelibolu town of the western province of Canakkale on Saturday.
Attending the inaugural ceremony, Undersecretary Ismet Yilmaz of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry said, "the strong and lasting cooperation between Turkey and Russia, which are the two important countries of the Eurasia region and the Black Sea basin, will contribute to our region and further to peace and stability".
Yilmaz said the monument was an indicator of such cooperation.
"It will represent and strengthen the friendship between Turkey and Russia," he added.
Speaking at the ceremony, Russian ambassador in Ankara Vladimir Ivanovskiy said that many Russian citizens proceeded to Turkey after the civil war in Russia, and therefore, the monument had a great meaning.
