ANKARA - Turkey has extended a 2-million USD financial support to China for the victims of the destructive earthquake that hit the country recently.
Turkish Foreign Ministry released a statement on Saturday stating that more than 40,000 people lost their lives at the earthquake in China.
"Turkey, which is a country that knows well the destructive affects of earthquakes and the importance of international solidarity during sensitive periods, does not leave China alone in these hard days," the ministry`s statement said.
The statement also said that Turkish government decided to extend financial humanitarian aid to China within such framework and the 2-million USD aid was delivered to Chinese officials.
China was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake last Monday. The epicentre of the earthquake was near Chengdu which is about 1,600 km southwest of Beijing.
