INCREDIBLE ESCAPE
By cutting the cell bars with iron shears, Armenian swindler Emili Parapoziam escaped from the Istanbul Security Directorate where he was being kept for deportation. During the count in the detention room which is monitored 24 hours a day with surveillance cameras, officials knew about escape of Parapoziam who cut the bars with iron shears and jumped down an area three meters beneath and later exited the building like a visitor. There were five Chechens in the same room who have links to al-Qaeda. Police investigate how he managed to escape and the iron shears was brought in.

NATURAL GAS BARGAINING IN TEHRAN
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is going to go to Iran today for Turkey's second biggest natural gas bargaining after the Blue Stream. Earlier Erdogan postponed this visit once but later surprisingly increased the program from two to three days. He is bringing these files to Tehran:
1- Natural gas bargaining.
2- PKK/KONGRA-GEL
3- Increase in bilateral trade volume.
4- Stance towards Kurdish state.
5- Iran's gesture for airport.

SINEM IS VICTIM OF MINI-SKIRT
Turkish girls have always been facing problems in schools in Germany and France due to Islamic-style headscarf (turban). However, this time a Turkish girl is at logger-heads with a school in England due to her mini-skirt. Four girls between 12-15 years old including Turkish girl Sinem Zelzele were dismissed from school with the pretext that their mini-skirts were seducible. Her mother Pembe Zelzele said, ''British teachers took racist decision.''

AL QAEDA ALERT AT AIRPORTS
''Yellow alert'' is activated at airports when a very important intelligence about Al Qaeda's activities against planes has reached to Ankara. Yellow alert is one step lower than red alert.

WIVES WITHOUT HEADSCARVES NOT TO GO TO IRAN
Emine Erdogan, wife of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, did not go to France due to discussions about headscarf. However, she is going to Iran today. Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen will accompany Erdogan during the visit. However, Tuzmen's wife, who does not wear headscarf, will not go to Iran.

PRIVATE PLANE CRASHED IN MUGLA, PILOT DIED
A Cessna 172 type plane, which took off from Dalaman Airport at 05.45 p.m., crashed 15 minutes after it took off. Pilot of the plane, which crashed on buildings under construction in Ortaca town of Mugla, died, while two Austrians and one Turkish citizen were injured.

CRITICAL MESSAGE TO IRAN
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will warn Tehran administration with a diplomatic manner during his visit to Iran that will start today. He will say, ''make cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for your nuclear program.''

HE IS PUNISHED BECAUSE HE WARNED
Turkish State Railways (TCDD) Director General Suleyman Karaman deducted salary of an economist who found the faster-train project , which killed 37 people, ''utopian''. Describing his criticism as disrespect, Karaman told him, ''if you can't broaden your vision, respect those who do it.''

KARAMAN ORDERS FOR HIGH-SPEED
While discussions on faster-train have been continuing, it was revealed that the TCDD Director General had granted the train engineers the authority to increase speed by ten percent in case of a risk of delay. A circular issued in May 2004 said, ''rehabilitation may take time.''

INCIRLIK INSISTENCE OF U.S.
It was reported that Bush administration demanded ''maximum flexibility'' which would not require case-by-case political decision on every operation for F-16 fleets which it wanted to deploy at the Incirlik air-base. When Ankara said it was impossible to accept such a demand, Washington gave the start for a new plan which the Turkish side can accept.

DECISION IN PRINCIPLE ON AID
During a meeting on 2007-2013 program, the EU General Affairs Council accepted in principle to assist Turkey as ''a country which holds negotiations (with the EU).'' Turkey will be given an aid of 1,050 million euros.

EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCES
In accordance with decisions taken at NATO's Defense Ministers Meeting, the Turkish Armed Forces decided to establish a Center for Perfection of Fight Against Terrorism. Turkish army will assign 16 officers and non-commissioned officers to the center.

ANKARA'S COMPLAINT: IRAQ
Ankara feels uneasy: Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi does not want to come to Turkey. A request (by Turkey) to open a consulate general in Mosul was rejected. There are problems in Kirkuk.

CLAIM: BRAKES FAILED
FAST RESPONSE: NO
Railways Engineers and Workers Association (DEMARD) Chairman Musa Ayar said, ''brake system should be investigated because the engineers applied the brakes on time but the train failed to slow down.'' The Turkish State Railways (TCDD) gave a fast response: ''there is not any problem about our brake system.''

EU ASSISTANCE ON WAY
The European Union (EU) gave Turkey a 'candidate country' status. The EU elaborated a plan to provide a financial assistance of more than 25 billion Euros to Ankara before 2013, in case the negotiations would start in 2005.

TURKISH DOCTOR TO BEAM
The Galileo Avionica, an Italian military plane and civil and military satellite firm, signed an agreement with Turkish scientist Seckiner Gorgun. Gorgun said that Italians would establish a laboratory for him. Gorgun's most important project is a ''beam'' system similar to the ''Star Trek'' TV-serial. He said that they would firstly beam mice.

WORLD BANK: ENERGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS SHOULD BE FOCUSED
World Bank wanted Turkey to concentrate on investments on energy and infrastructure. World Bank made suggestion to refresh public investments which were neglected during last years. Those investments should be given priority under current economic program. World Bank stated that it could provide loan for those projects.

THY TO CARRY CHINESE PEOPLE TO ATHENS OLYMPICS
Turkish Airlines (THY) will carry Chinese fans for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Under the agreement which was signed between THY and the state-run Chinese International Travel Agency, nearly two thousand Chinese fans will be carried to Athens via Istanbul.
