ANKARA - Turkey`s first male harpist will give a concert in Ferrara city of Italy on May 25th.
The "Mahler Chamber Orchestra", one of the most prestigious chamber orchestras in the world, will accompany Cagatay Akyol who will play Hector Berlioz`s "Les Nuit D`ete".
Akyol began playing harp, one of the oldest musical instruments in the world which is generally preferred by female musicians, at the age of 10. He won a scholarship from Germany and got the change of studying with worldwide famous musicians at the Berlin State High-School for Music.
Akyol is also the director of Turkey`s Presidential Symphony Orchestra, the third oldest orchestra in the world which was founded in 1826 when Mahmud II transformed the Mehter Band into a more westernized ensemble.
