ISTANBUL - Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, were in Istanbul on Thursday, the third day of their state visit to Turkey.
The royal couple and their entourage, who were accompanied by Turkish State Minister Mehmet Aydin, first visited Kabatas High School and attended an activity held within the scope of a science project carried out by high school students.
Following their visit to the school, British queen and her husband joined Turkish President Abdullah Gul and her spouse Hayrunnisa Gul to take a boat trip on the Bogazici (Bosphorus), the Istanbul Strait.
Queen Elizabeth and Hayrunnisa Gul visited the Istanbul Modern Arts Museum to tour an exhibition, "Design Cities", which tells the story of contemporary design through the focus of seven key cities; London, Vienna, Dessau, Paris, Los Angeles, Milan and Tokyo. The monarch was also briefed by several arts projects exhibited at the museum.
