European Parliament's Contact Group For Turkish Cypriots Examine Lokmaci Gate In Cyprus

LEFKOSA - European Parliament`s High-Level Contact Group for Turkish Cypriots examined the Lokmaci Gate in Cyprus on Thursday.
Lefkosa`s Turkish Municipality Mayor Cemal Bulutoglulari did not accompany the European Parliament`s group as a reaction to Lefkosa Greek Municipality`s attempts to block the Lefkosa Turkish Municipality`s international activities.
The European Parliament`s group walked through the Lokmaci Gate and entered Greek Cypriot Lefkosa.
Members of the group said that they came to Lefkosa to show support to the leaders in the island.
Speaking in Lefkosa, German deputy of Turkish origin Cem Ozdemir said that the opening of the Lokmaci Gate carries a symbolic importance.
"The final solution is to eradicate the borders in Cyprus completely," Ozdemir noted.
