RIZE - Turkish Red Crescent Association Chairman said on Wednesday that Turkish team could not yet enter cyclone-hit Myanmar, but continues assistance works in quake-hit China.
Asked to comment on Turkey`s assistance to Myanmar and China, Chairman Tekin Kucukali said a 4-people team was sent to the region to help survivors of the devastating cyclone which claimed lives of tens of thousands of people. "Our team arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia. But they could not yet get permission to enter the country," he said.
Kucukali said Red Crescent would send a financial aid of 600 thousand USD to Myanmar devastated by the Cyclone Nargis at the weekend. "Red Crescent targets to send water, medicine and infant food," he said.
Separately, Kucukali said Red Crescent started assistance activities in quake-hit China after a call for help from this country.
