BURSA - Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom visited Yesil (Green) Mosque and Tomb in northwestern province of Bursa on Wednesday.
Prof. Ilber Ortayli briefed Queen Elizabeth II about the history of the mosque. She was accompanied by Turkish State Minister Mehmet Aydin and Bursa Governor Sahabettin Harput.
Prof. Mehmet Emin Ay from Uludag University Faculty of Theology read "Rahman" sura from Koran to Queen Elizabeth II.
Bursa Mufti Mahmut Gunduz presented an English Koran as a gift to Queen.
Early in the day, Queen Elizabeth II and her spouse Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip visited historical Koza Han (Silk Cacoon Market), attended a luncheon and watched Karagoz shadow puppet performance together with 13 children.
