ISTANBUL - A Turkish state minister said on Wednesday that Turkey`s exports in the first 4 months of 2008 exceeded the country`s total exports in 2002 and 2003.
Attending the inauguration of an international textile machinery and chemicals fair in Istanbul, State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said Turkey`s exports reached 47 billion USD in the first 4.5 months of 2008.
Tuzmen also said Turkey`s textile machinery exports would reach 1 billion USD in a couple of years.
Uganda`s Vice President Gilbert Balibaseka Bukenya, who attended the inauguration as well, said that Turkey`s private sector was the leading force for the country`s economy.
After the speeches, a cooperation agreement was signed between Turkish and Egyptian textile machinery manufacturers.
