ANKARA - A group of Turkish students have become successful in a maths olympiad in Macedonia.
Turkish students, chosen by the Scientific & Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), represented Turkey successfully in the 25th Balkan Mathematical Olympiad held in Ohrid, Macedonia from May 4th to 10th.
The students returned to Turkey with two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
The Balkan Mathematical Olympiad is an annual contest for students from Balkan countries. In recent years, the hosts have also invited some non-member guest countries. The first olympiad was held in Athens, Greece in 1984. The upcoming olympiad is to take place in Serbia in 2009.
