Turkey Supports All Efforts To Settle Peace In Lebanon

ANKARA - Turkey extended support on Wednesday to all efforts aiming to settle peace and order in Lebanon.
Turkey supported all regional and international efforts aiming to bring peace and order in Lebanon, the Foreign Ministry said.
"Turkey feels deep sorrow and concern over ongoing clashes and loss of life in Lebanon," the ministry said in its statement.
The ministry said Turkey welcomed the decision of the Arab League to send a committee of ministers to Lebanon to hold talks with the relevant parties in order to find a solution to the crisis through dialogue and compromise.
In its statement, the ministry also said that Turkey supported any solution of the crisis through dialogue and under constitutional legitimacy.
The political crisis exploded into violence in Lebanon on May 7th when supporters of the Hezbollah-led opposition blocked roads in the capital to enforce a strike called by labor unions protesting the government`s economic policies and demanding pay raises. The strike escalated into street confrontations between supporters of the rival camps. About a dozen people were injured. On May 8th, the violence spread outside the capital.
