ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that recent objections to EU was not a stance to preserve Turkey`s dignity and prestige.
"These objections are not a stance to preserve secularism, either. Because it would be delirious to say that EU was against secularism," Erdogan told his party meeting at the parliament.
He said that the style of the opposition in Turkey could not befit the European style.
"Turkey should revise this opposition style if it wants to become an EU member," he said and blamed opposition parties for not knowing the reality of Turkey, especially in eastern and southeastern part of the country.
Erdogan also said that Turkey was coming closer to EU standards every passing day, however, opposition parties were resisting to change.
