ISTANBUL - The Galileo Avionica, an Italian military plane and civil and military satellite firm, is going to establish a laboratory in Istanbul, Turkey so, a Turkish scientist, Seckiner Gorgun, can make advanced researches, sources said on Monday.
The Italian firm has signed an agreement with Gorgun, who is a technical adviser on physical therapy and rehabilitation.
Dr. Gorgun returned to Turkey five years ago after carrying out researches on electromagnetic waves and medicine in foreign universities in Hanover (Germany), Bordeaux (France), Bangkok (Thailand) and Torino (Italy), as well as on behalf of private companies in several European countries.
Gorgun told A.A correspondent that Galileo Avionica firm invited him to Italy a while ago but, he couldn't visit this country, because of his busy schedule.
Dr. Gorgun said, ''Some times ago I was working as a technical consultant for this firm, producing new projects. After I returned to Turkey, they brought me problems they couldn't resolve related with electronics, electromagnetic and radar systems.''
''But'', Gorgun noted, ''a laboratory was needed to solve those problems'', adding that ''they came to Istanbul on February 7th. I said I couldn't go to Italy. We discussed and they told me that they rather would establish a laboratory in Istanbul, and we signed an agreement.''
Dr. Gorgun stated that the laboratory would be equipped with sensitive measurement technology instruments, an 'isolated room', a radar system, and special computer programs, as required by space technology researches.

-PROJECTS-
Confirming that the laboratory equipment had started to be dispatched to Turkey by planes, Dr. Gorgun said that he would work with three assistants, and added that he would not only test finished projects but also generate new ones.
Gorgun stated that he already completed a project on ''rendering objects undetectable by the radar''. Noting that this was a system different from stealth planes, Gorgun said that the effect was produced electronically and not mechanically.
Another project to be studied was related with security systems, Gorgun said, adding that this project would enable officials to easily find organic bodies like virus and bacteria; and plastic explosives , porcelain-made guns, and drugs, during security checks.
-BEAM SYSTEM-
Dr. Gorgun said that ''beam'' system of the ''Star Trek'' serial was among his projects as well, and added, ''this is a micro work on laboratory test on a cell, performed in 1975. A cell in a closed bottle was beamed to another closed bottle, 1.5-2 meters away from the first one. Now, I want to carry out a macro research on beam. I want to test it on, firstly mice and frogs, and then on inorganic substances on which beaming researches have not been carried out yet. If we achieve a success in this project, storing, archiving and transportation will be easier.''
Gorgun noted that he also aimed to obtain nuclear energy from non-radioactive substances and said, ''the aim of this project is to obtain , cheap and clean fuel oil in the long-term. The waste won't be radioactive.''
Stating that he had achieved to increase the capacity which was 18 GB, of a hard disk of a computer over 512x10, thanks to his studies, Gorgun said that he wanted to improve this project to be used in aviation industry.
