MILAS - A van carrying illegal migrants rolled over a cliff Sunday in Milas town of the Aegean province of Mugla injuring three of its passengers.
Following a lead, Milas police formed a barricade to stop a van carrying illegal migrants set to escape to foreign countries, on the Izmir-Milas highway.
The driver of the Van -- carrying the illegal migrants in return for money -- managed to steer its way through the barricade and started heading towards downtown with the police chasing it close behind.
After the hot pursuit in the downtown. it changed direction and started proceeding towards the city of Mugla.
Realizing that he will not be able to escape, the driver jumped out of the speeding van and ran away to the forest, while the van deprived of its driver went off road and rolled over the cliff.
Three illegal migrants were injured and were taken to a state hospital in Milas.
34 Afghan and two Pakistani citizens were taken into custody.
Following legal proceedings, the illegal migrants will be deported.
