YAYLADAGI - Turkish citizens, who were evacuated from Lebanon, entered Turkey on Saturday.
Fourteen Turkish citizens were evacuated from the Lebanese capital of Beirut with initiatives of the Turkish Embassy in this country due to the clashes in West Beirut.
The Turkish Embassy in Beirut allocated a bus for the citizens to bring them back to Turkey. The citizens entered Turkey from Yayladagi border crossing on Saturday.
"We had to stay in our houses and bullets were hitting on our walls, we were so afraid," citizen Umur Gokce told reporters.
The political crisis exploded into violence in Lebanon on Wednesday when supporters of the Hezbollah-led opposition blocked roads in the capital to enforce a strike called by labor unions protesting the government`s economic policies and demanding pay raises. The strike escalated into street confrontations between supporters of the rival camps. About a dozen people were injured. On Thursday, the violence spread outside the capital.
