ANKARA - Automobiles are at the first place with 46,342 among all motor vehicles 77,948 registered in May of 2004.
The State Institute of Statistics (DIE) said on Sunday that automobiles took the first place with 59.5 percent, followed by small trucks with 26.1 percent, motorcycle with 6.2 percent and truck with 3.2 percent among all motor vehicles registered in May of 2004.
Minibus, bus, road construction and work machinery and special purpose vehicles constituted 5 percent of all registered motor vehicles.
Meanwhile, 33,253 motor vehicles were withdrawn from records.
In the same period last year, 12,918 motor vehicles were registered while 11,087 motor vehicles were withdrawn.
The rate of motor vehicles registered in March of 2004 is 73.7 percent for the first ten, according to their abundance by the following provinces: Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya, Bursa, Adana, Mersin, Gaziantep, Hatay and Mugla.
In term of usage, 90.5 percent of vehicles are private, 9.2 percent are commercial and 0.3 percent are official.
The trademarks of motor vehicles registered first time in March of 2004 are follows: Renault 17 percent, Opel 13.3 percent, Ford 11.7 percent, Volkswagen 9.2 percent, Tofas(Murat-Fiat) 8.7 percent, Hyundai 8.1 percent and others 32 percent.
Meanwhile, 160,906 motor vehicles were registered while 66,739 motor vehicles were withdrawn in the January-March period of the year.
In the same period last year, 35,918 motor vehicles were registered while 3,445 motor vehicles were withdrawn.
