ANKARA - Center of Excellence Defense Against Terrorism Command of Turkey would organize a workshop titled "Transportation Security Against Terrorism" in Turkish capital of Ankara on May 5th and 6th, the General Staff said on Saturday.
A statement posted on website of the General Staff said the workshop would last for two days and it would focus on terrorism and its impacts on the transportation systems, critical transportation infrastructure, terrorism risk for public transportation systems, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) versus terrorist attacks and transportation security issues against terrorism.
The workshop aims to understand the background and rationales of current transportation security policies and systems as related to terrorism, to identify a general pattern to conceive and implement measures to improve security, mainly to protect citizens against terrorism, to combine multilateral efforts in transportation security targeted by terrorists and to develop a concept which will ensure preemptive action to eliminate or significantly reduce the effects of terrorism on transportation.
65 academicians and senior personnel from 24 countries will attend the workshop.
