ANKARA - A total of 4,014 new companies and 4,045 new trade names were established in June of 2004 with a total capital of 3.9 trillion Turkish liras (TL).
The State Institute of Statistics (DIE) said on Saturday that number of the established companies increased 50.11 percent from 2,674 in June of 2003 to 4,014 in June of 2004.
Meanwhile, 658 companies with total capital of 9.1 billion TL were liquidated. Number of the liquidated companies rose 37.08 percent from 480 in the same period last year.
In the same period, 2,998 companies increased their capital by 2.6 quadrillion TL, 2 companies decrease their capital by 1.1 trillion TL, and 15 companies with total capital of 8.1 trillion TL changed their status.
Numbers and fields of activity of the newly established companies are as follows: 1,293 wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, and household items; 870 manufacturing; 507 construction; 383 transport, storage, communication; 360 real estate services; 141 hotels and restaurants; 95 medical and social services; 88 finance; 73 agriculture, hunting, forestry; 71 education; 53 other community, social and personal services; and 46 mining and quarrying.
Numbers and fields of activity of the companies which increased their capital are as follows: 956 manufacturing; 839 wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, and household items; 438 construction; 291 transport, storage, communication; 161 real estate service; 75 hotels and restaurants; 56 finance; 56 other community, social and personal services; 55 medical and social services; and 27 education.
Numbers and fields of activity of the liquidated companies are as follows: 201 wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, and household items; 174 manufacturing; 126 construction; 48 transport, storage, communication; 45 real estate services; 20 medical and social service; 15 finance; 9 hotels and restaurants; and 8 other community, social and personal service.
