PARIS - President Jacques Chirac of France sent on Friday a message of condolence to Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer following Thursday's train derailment in northwestern Turkey.
In his message, President Chirac expressed his profound sorrow over loss of lives in the train derailment.
Offering his condolences, President Chirac said that he commiserated with Turkish people and those who lost their relatives in the train crash.
A total 37 people were killed and 81 others were injured when a high-speed train derailed near Pamukova town of northwestern province of Sakarya on Thursday night. The train, traveling from Istanbul to Ankara, was carrying nine crew members and 234 passengers.
