ANKARA - A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan late on Friday to discuss Thursday's train derailment in Pamukova town of northwestern province of Sakarya in detail.
The meeting held with the participation of State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener, State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, State Minister Guldal Aksit, State Minister Kursat Tuzmen, State Minister Ali Babacan, Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan, National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, Health Minister Recep Akdag, Labor and Social Security Minister Murat Basesgioglu, Environment and Forestry Minister Osman Pepe and Prime Ministry Undersecretary Omer Dincer lasted for 3.5 hours.
During the meeting, it was decided to determine future steps in line with report to be prepared as a result of investigations of technical delegation and prosecutor.
A total 37 people were killed and 81 others were injured when a high-speed train derailed near Pamukova town of northwestern province of Sakarya on Thursday night. The train, traveling from Istanbul to Ankara, was carrying nine crew members and 234 passengers.
