ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that the government would take a decision after the technical team gave his report on potential reasons of the last night's train crash. A high-speed train derailed Thursday night near Pamukova town of northwestern Sakarya province.
Erdogan told reporters today that it was not healthy to think that the concerned minister or the government (as a whole) would resign after such incidents.
The high-speed train project was launched together with scientists and tests were carried out beforehand, Erdogan added. He noted, ''if there had been problems, such accidents would have happened every day after the high-speed train services were launched. But, nothing happened since the services were initiated (on June 4th.)''
The technical team would investigate the cause of the crash for a week or ten days, Erdogan stated.
Erdogan said that the government would then take a decision in the light of the report prepared by this technical team.
Noting that Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim would give detailed information about the train derailment, Erdogan said that he would meet ministers in the afternoon to assess the actual situation.
