MOSTAR - A Turkish delegation arrived in Mostar town of Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday to attend inaugural ceremony of historical bridge of Mostar.
State Ministers Besir Atalay and Mehmet Aydin, Public Works and Housing Minister Zeki Ergezen, Culture and Tourism Minister Erkan Mumcu, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Sami Guclu and bureaucrats were welcomed at the Mostar Airport by Turkish Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina Melek Sina Baydur.
Earlier, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan cancelled his visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina after a high-speed train, which was bound from Istanbul to Ankara, derailed near Pamukova town of northwestern Sakarya province, killing 36 people and injuring 81 others.
The famous thirty-meter single-arched stone bridge of Mostar was destroyed during the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina between 1991 and 1995.
The bridge was built by of limestone, between two medieval towers in 1566, according to the plans of Mimar Haireddin, a disciple of Sinan, the greatest architect of the Ottomans.
