TCDD Deputy Director General: May Face Problems In Identifying Victims Of Train Crash

ANKARA - Ali Kemal Ergulec, the Deputy Director of the Turkish State Railways (TCDD), said on Thursday that they might face problems in identifying the victims of the train crash since TCDD was not writing the names of passengers on the tickets.
On the other hand, other TCDD officials said that the drivers of the high-speed train, which derailed near Pamukova town of northwestern Sakarya province en route from Istanbul to Ankara, were experienced enough.
TCDD also cancelled tomorrow (Friday) morning`s high-speed train services. TCDD officials said that they would start to repair the railway after the wreckage was shifted.
If the railway was repaired till tomorrow, train services would be permitted, TCDD officials noted.
The same officials said that locomotives used in high-train services were purchased from Bosnia-Herzegovina, noting that those locomotives could travel at around 160 kilometers per hour.
TCDD officials added that Turkish-made cars suitable for this speed was attached to these locomotives.
