Nazim Hikmet's Poems Translated Into Persian

TEHRAN - World-famous Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet's poems have been translated into Persian.
Translated by the Persian Iraj Nobeht, ''Human Views from my Homeland'', have been printed at a run of 12 thousand copies.
''I had a chance to learn about Nazim Hikmet's Poetry while I was a post-doctoral student in the late 70s at the Arts Faculty of the Istanbul University. I am very happy to have translated Hikmet's poems into Persian'', said Nobeht.
''My initial translation of Hikmet's works was the fictional book titled 'It is good to be living my kin','' Nobeht continued.
''Nazim Hikmet is not just a Turkish poet; he is an international scholar. We have been influenced not by his ideology but by his world vision,'' Nobeht expressed.
Nobeht also told that he has lived for five years in Istanbul and that there are similarities between the Turkish and Persian cultures.
''We must translate each culture's literature into other's language,'' state Nobeht.
Iraj Nobeht is currently a professor of arts at the Tonekabon University and has translated other Turkish writers' works into Persian, including Bekir Yildiz's stories, Erol Toy's ''Republic of Mice'' and Yasar Kemal's ''Thin Memed.''
