ISTANBUL - Turkish National Education Minister Huseyin Celik left on Thursday for Japan as the official guest of Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sport, Science, and Technology Takeo Kawamura.
Prior to his departure, Celik told reporters that Turkey wished to have good relations with Japan in area of education, and said that he would search ways to further improve cooperation with Japan especially in the area of education.
Celik noted that the Japanese Organization for International Cooperation extended assistance to Turkish schools in areas of electricity, electronic, computer technologies and automation system.
''I will demand exchange of experts and technological support during my visit. Also, we will meet officials of NHK Television, one of institutions experienced in education from television. We will propose to establish cooperation between this institution and the Turkish National Education Ministry Directorate General of Education Technologies,'' Celik said.
Recalling that Japan was a country situated on the quake belt, Celik said, ''we will especially discuss possibilities to build quake-resistant schools.''
