RIYADH, July 22 (AFP) - A terror suspect arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday after surrendering at the kingdom's embassy in Damascus, hours before the expiration of a one-month royal amnesty offer, the SPA official news agency said.
"Fawzan bin Nasser bin Ahmad al-Fawzan, a Saudi national wanted for security-related matters, contacted the (Saudi) embassy in Syria expressing his desire ... to return with his family," SPA quoted a source at the interior ministry as saying.
Fawzan was the sixth terror suspect to take up the amnesty offer, but was not on the kingdom's most wanted list.
"He arrived today in Riyadh with his wife and daughter. ... Members of his family met him in the airport," SPA said.
The state-run news agency said that Fawzan's wife and daughter left later with the other family members.
The interior ministry said in a statement carried by official media that all those who wanted to turn themselves in must do so by the end of the day under the amnesty declared on June 23.
Twelve of the 26 people on the list issued in December are still at large. The others were either killed in clashes or surrendered.
