European Stock Exchanges Fall Sharply, London Ftse Down 1.62 Percent

LONDON, July 22 (AFP) - European stock exchanges suffered sharp losses Thursday, with the London FTSE 100 index down 1.62 percent to 4,306.3 at the close.
In Paris the CAC 40 fell 1.78 percent to finish at 3,572.84, while in Frankfurt the DAX shed 1.98 percent to end the session at 3,801.05.
