Two State Owned Electricity Distribution Companies To Be Privatized

ANKARA - Two state owned electricity distribution companies will be privatized through block sale of shares.
A communique issued by Turkey`s Privatization Authority on Thursday invited bidders to submit offers for the sale of 100 percent shares of Meram Co. and Aras Co.
Bidders interested in Meram Electric Distribution Co. -- whose area of operation is the Central Anatolian provinces of Kirsehir, Nigde, Aksaray, Konya, Karaman-- have to pay 10 million USD each as assurance to be able to partake in the tender.
The amount of assurance to be paid by bidders interested in Aras Co. operating in Eastern provinces of Erzurum, Agri, Ardahan, Bayburt, Erzincan, Igdir and Kars was set as 5 million USD.
Initially the bidders will submit sealed proposals, which will be followed by negotiations.
If the tender committee deems necessary it may continue with open bidding during this phase.
Only legal entities and consortia that meet the preliminary qualifications will be allowed to partake in the tender.
The deadline for applications for preliminary qualification is May 26th.
