ANKARA, July 22 (AFP) - Russian President Vladimir Putin is to visit Turkey in early September, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced Thursday.
The Russian leader`s visit is scheduled for September 1 and 2, Erdogan told reporters, according to Anatolia news agency.
Economic cooperation between Turkey and Rissia has flourished since the fall of communism, but Russian accusations that Ankara is turning a blind eye to Chechen rebels hiding in Turkey and Turkish militants fighting on the side of Chechen separatist have frequently strained bilateral ties.
