Construction of the Turkish section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will begin in late May, Turkey`s Transport Minister Binali Yildirim told journalists.
The Turkish company Celikler-Ozgun Group of Companies, winner of the $290 million tender to build the 76-km part of the "Iron Silkway" project, is tipped to start construction shortly.
The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project will be completed in three years. The Turkish government set aside $380 million to this project.
According to the Minister, the Marmaray project will link up European countries with China.
