Turkey Can Feed Its E.U. Membership Aspiration With Reforms, Pierini

TRABZON - The head of the delegation of the European Commission in Turkey said Tuesday Turkey can feed its European Union (EU) membership process with reforms.
Speaking at a seminar held in Black Sea province of Trabzon, Ambassador Marc Pierini said that the accession process to the EU is a complex and technical one that cannot be understood easily by the citizens of member states.
"We know that in Turkey there is a lack of information on the EU. There are thousands of legislation that cannot be easily understood. There could be pre-conceived notions on the EU. The EU bureaus' task is to eradicate misunderstandings," Pierini stressed.
"The projects to be implemented jointly by the EU and Turkey are intended to make the lives of Turks easier. There are EU bureaus in Istanbul and Ankara. We plan to increase the number of EU bureaus to 15 by the end of the year and later to 20. The business world in Turkey know that EU membership is in the best interest of Turkey," Pierini also said.
