ANKARA - Turkish Industry & Trade Minister Zafer Caglayan said Tuesday that Turkey was the most secure energy corridor in the world and offers best opportunities for Turkmenistan to pump its natural gas and oil to western markets.
Speaking at Turkey-Turkmenistan Joint Economic Commission meeting in Ankara, Caglayan said trade volume between Turkey and Turkmenistan reached 750 million USD last year.
"But this is not our potential. Turkey and Turkmenistan can cooperate in energy, contracting business and transportation services," Caglayan told the meeting.
Turkmenistan's Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers for Trade, Commerce, Textiles & Customs Hojamuhammet Muhammedow, who co-chaired the meeting, said that several Turkish companies were operating in Turkmenistan and that Turkmenistan's authorities wanted Turkish companies to grow their operations in this country.
