Turkey's Pamukkale And Melen Wines Promoted In Britain

LONDON - Turkey's Pamukkale and Melen wines have been promoted in British capital of London.
Melen wines including Narince, Gamay, Muscat Reine de Vin, Reisling, Merlot, Shiraz and Melencik as well as Pamukkale wines such as Senfoni, Anfora, Cabarnet Souvignon, Chardonnay and Kalecik Karasi were introduced in one of the most famous Thai restaurants in London.
Cigdem Tok from the exporting company said on Monday they expected a great interest in Turkish wines from British people and aimed at promoting special Turkish wines in Britain.
Hayri Ramazanoglu from Pamukkale Wines said they exported wines to Germany, France, the Netherlands and Belgium.
Turkey played a pivotal role in the early history of wine and may have been one of the earliest wine-producing regions.
Some of the native Turkish grape varieties include the Yapincak and Papazkarasi grown in Trakya; the Sultaniye of the Aegean coast; the Okuzgozu and Bogazkere (used to make Buzbag) of Eastern Anatolia; the Calkarasi of the Denizli in Western Anatolia, and the Kalecik Karasi, Narince and Emir of Central Anatolia. In recent years, some of the international grape varieties have increased their presence, including Sémillon (known as Trakya), Riesling, Muscat, Gamay, Cinsault, Grenache, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
