Solana: Neighboring Countries With Iraq To Exchange Information And Intelligence

CAIRO - Javier Solana, the high representative of the European Union (EU) for common foreign and security policy, said on Wednesday that neighboring countries with Iraq would exchange information and intelligence.
Solana met foreign ministers of neighboring countries with Iraq over a luncheon in which Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul also attended.
Solana noted that participants of the Regional Initiative on Iraq reached consensus that there would be practical cooperation at the level of interior ministers, adding that this cooperation which aimed to contribute to reestablishment of stability and security in Iraq would cover exchange of information and intelligence.
Stressing that making a decision on problems could not be expected from such meetings, Solana said that it was an important step to put in order affairs regarding to Iraq.
Upon a question, Solana said that he considered the meeting satisfactory.
