ANKARA - Turkish Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan hosted Monday a dinner in honor of his Singaporean counterpart Abdullah Tarmugi.
Speaking at the dinner, Toptan said he was pleased to have Tarmugi in the Turkish capital, Ankara, adding that cooperation between Turkey and Singapore would serve in the interests of both countries.
"Although our countries are far away from each other, the distance is not an obstacle before our boosting trade relations," Toptan said.
Tarmugi said that Turkey was a gateway to both Europe and Central Asia, adding that cooperation between Turkey and Singapore would yield fruitful results.
Tarmugi is the first Singaporean parliament speaker to visit Turkey in 18 years.
