ANKARA - Turkey's chief of general staff expressed on Monday sorrow over loss of lives in the fight against terrorism.
General Yasar Buyukanit, the chief of general staff, said he was grievous over losses in countering terrorism, but that grief encouraged the security forces to fight in a more determined way.
"They (terrorists) will definitely be punished," Buyukanit told reporters at an award ceremony in Ankara.
Gen. Buyukanit said Turkey did not want any of its soldiers be killed or wounded, however that was an indispensable result of the fight against terrorism.
Two Turkish soldiers and one village guard were killed in clashes with the terrorist organization PKK in the southeastern province of Sirnak on Saturday.
Also, two soldiers were killed and another was injured in a clash that erupted between security forces and PKK terrorists in the eastern province of Bingol early on Sunday.
