Turkey's And New Zealand's Fms Hold Joint News Conference

ISRAEL-SYRIA TALKS TO BE CARRIED OUT THROUGH TURKEY

ANKARA - Turkish FM Ali Babacan said Monday that talks between Israel and Syria have been going on for almost a year and would be carried out through Turkey for a while more.
Speaking to reporters at a joint press conference with New Zealand's FM Winston Peters, Babacan said both Israel and Syria asked Turkey's help to find a solution to problems between the two countries.
"There is a traffic that became more intense over the past few weeks. These talks will be carried out through Turkey for a while more. Parties can resume direct talks only after the issue becomes mature," Babacan told reporters.
"All we want is stability, peace, prosperity and security nearby. And we want it far all, not only for a certain group or people" he said.
Babacan said Turkey would do its best to achieve that goal, adding that the important thing was political will and determination of the two countries.
