International Labor Organization Delegation In Turkey

ANKARA - A delegation from the International Labor Organization (ILO) has arrived in Turkey on Monday to hold talks on labor life standards.
ILO's Manager of Standards Department Cleopatra Dombia-Henry and Legal Adviser Maria Marta Trevieso will hold meetings with authorities from the Turkish Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Turkish labor unions as well as employer unions and confederations of labor.
Turkey was placed in an ILO report recently based on its deficiencies in meeting the requirements of 12 separate agreements and demands it was asked to fulfil.
The report said that Turkey must make amendments to laws numbered 4688, 2821 and 2822 and determine a calendar as to when the new amendments would go into effect.
The report indicated that the ban on public employees in holding strikes should only be limited to personnel using authority in the name of the state and with mandatory services.
According to the report, the governments should take measures so that excessive and dangerous force is not used on the individuals conducting strikes and/or protests.
