BEIJING - Chinese automotive giant Chery Group is intending to produce cars in Turkey.
Chery Group Vice President Zhou Biren told AA that the company would produce its Kimo, Tiggo and Alia brand cars in Turkey in cooperation with Turkish Mermerler Group.
Biren said that automobiles of Chery company were sold in 64 countries in the world, and Chery was the fastest growing company in automotive sector in the world.
Biren said that Turkey was a big market for their company and also a strategic country as a bridge between Asia and Europe. Biren added that they aimed to open to Europe via Turkish market.
He said that they were conducting a feasibility study regarding the factory of Mermerler Group, adding that investment amount would be set following the completion of this study.
Chery Group was established in 1997. It owns seven factories in China, and sells 700,000 cars annually. The group ranks 4th in Chinese automotive market.
