Turkey's Main Opposition Party To Elect Its New Chairperson

ANKARA - Turkey`s main opposition party is set to elect its new chairperson on Saturday.
The Republican People`s Party (CHP) will choose its new chairperson on the first day of its 2-day regular convention in Ankara.
The party will hold its convention at the Ataturk Sports Hall in the Turkish capital, elect its new chairperson on the first day and choose the new members of the party assembly and high disciplinary board on the second day.
More than 1200 delegates will attend the 32nd convention of CHP.
CHP members who have run their candidacy for chairman are MP Haluk Koc; Umut Oran, an executive of the Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB); Ayhan Yalcinkaya, a member of the CHP assembly; and lecturer Tolga Yarman.
Deniz Baykal was elected for the first time as the CHP chairman in 1992. This will be the tenth time he is running for this position.
